Meetings
1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Quarter District Meeting- meeting to engage with other Optimist Clubs and to learn from each other
1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th Quarter Zone Meeting- meeting held by four different clubs throughout the year where the club showcases what they are doing and other clubs ask questions and share projects/fundraiser they are doing
Annual Joint Convention- a weekend opportunity to meet and learn from other Optimists throughout the Atlantic Central conference and the Maryland/Southern Delaware conference
Annual International Convention- a four day convention opportunity to meet and learn from other Optimist throughout the country and world. The location for the conference is determined each year.
Gatherings
We like to have several socials during the summer months and during the Christmas holiday at various members homes.
Communications
Each member receives a Birthday Card on/near their birthday. As we are made aware, we honor each member with a Get Well Card. We also send Sympathy Cards when a family member has passed.
We recognize the importance of social media and have a Facebook page as well as a website. We strive to keep our social media current with fundraisers, programs and projects, and pictures of various activities.
Each month each member receives an email Newsletter sharing projects, fundraisers, and other items
We write numerous Newspaper Articles throughout the year as we complete projects i.e. student winners of the essay contest
We have a G-Mail account for the club. It is yorkoptimists@gmail.com.
We have business cards that are distributed to potential members.
We provide our speakers with lunch.
We ask the students to complete a survey after some of our events; this helps us make the event better for the coming year
Administrative
We believe in auditing our checking account each year. Two board members perform the audit.
Memorial Donations
We make memorial contributions in honor of our members that have passed.
